Key positions in the ignition switch: LOCK — lock position; ACC — the position in which consumers are turned on; ON — ignition position; START — starter engagement position
The ignition switch (lock) is a device responsible for turning on many important functions. It should be handled with care, preventing contamination or damage to the ignition key, as well as preventing dirt and foreign objects from getting inside the lock.
the ignition switch is installed on the steering column on the right side. The ignition key can be inserted into the switch and removed only in the LOCK position. In order to turn the ignition key from the ACC position to the LOCK position, it is necessary to press the key slightly when turning it.
the ignition switch is equipped with an anti-theft device that locks the steering shaft. To activate the device, remove the key from the ignition switch and turn the steering wheel in any direction until the locking element clicks. To unlock the shaft, insert the key into the ignition switch and, slightly rocking the steering wheel, turn the key from the LOCK position to the ACC position.
Never remove the key from the ignition while the vehicle is moving! The steering wheel may lock and the vehicle may become uncontrollable.
When the key is not inserted into the ignition switch, or is inserted into it and is in the LOCK position (fixed position), the driver has access to the following functions:
- turning on the side lights and fog lights;
- short-term signaling with high beam headlights (flashing);
- turning on the instrument cluster illumination and adjusting the illumination brightness;
- turn on the sound signal;
- using the sound reproduction system;
- switching on the interior lights and glove compartment light (when opening the glove compartment).
If the key is inserted into the ignition switch and turned to any position, a warning sound will sound when the driver's door is opened.
When the key is turned to the ACC position (fixed position), in addition to the above functions, the following are included:
- digital clock indication;
- 12V socket under the dashboard in the center;
- cigarette lighter.
When turning the key to the ON position (fixed position) the ignition is switched on and voltage is supplied to the power supply circuits of all electrical consumers. The indicator lamps on the instrument panel light up.
In the START position (non-fixed position) the starter is turned on. After starting the engine, you must release the ignition key and it will automatically return to the ON position.
Do not leave the ignition key in the LOCK, ACC or ON position for a long time, and if possible, do not use the car's electrical appliances when the engine is not running. This may lead to battery discharge.
Always remove the key from the ignition when you leave the car, even for a short time. Do not trust the ignition key to children or strangers. When leaving the car, leave the ignition key with passengers only in extreme cases, being sure that they will not harm themselves or others by using it, and will not damage your car.
