The following are installed on the left steering column switch:
- side light and low beam headlight switch;
- high beam switch;
- fog light switch;
- direction indicator switch.
Left steering column switch: 1 — handle for turning on the side lights and low beam headlights (in this position the parking light is on); 2 - fog light ring (in this position the fog lights are on)
The side lights are switched on by turning the handle on the end of the switch away from you until it clicks and the mark matches the corresponding symbol. The side lights can also be switched on when the key is removed from the ignition. If you remove the key from the ignition while the side lights are on, they will automatically switch off. At the same time as the side lights, the backlight of the rear license plate, instrument cluster and control panel is switched on/off, and the clock indicator becomes less bright.
You can also use the left steering column switch to give short signals (flash) the high beam headlights. To do this, pull the left steering column switch towards you and release it (in this position it is spring loaded).
It is not recommended to use the car's lights for a long time when the engine is not running. This may lead to the battery being discharged.
The low beam headlights are switched on by turning the end of the left steering column switch from the position of the side light switch away from you until the next click (the label will match the next character). The low beam headlights can only be turned on when the ignition is on. The high beam headlights are turned on by moving the left steering column switch away from you (fixed position). In this case, the corresponding blue indicator lights up in the instrument cluster. The high beam is switched off by moving the steering column switch in the opposite direction. The fog lights are switched on by turning ring 2 on the left steering column switch until the mark on it matches the ON symbol, and switched off by turning the ring until the mark on it matches the OFF symbol. In this case, the corresponding green indicator lights up in the instrument cluster. The fog lights can be switched on when the parking lights are switched on, regardless of whether one or another headlight is switched on or the ignition is switched on.
To signal the car to turn right, move the left steering column switch up. When you briefly press the switch (non-fixed position) the turn signals will flash once and the indicator will also flash once (in the form of a green arrow pointing to the right) in the instrument cluster. When the switch is moved up to the locked position, the direction indicators and indicator in the instrument cluster will flash until the switch is moved down to the center position or until the steering wheel is turned in the direction opposite to the turn (in this case the switch will return to its original position automatically).
Similar actions are performed when it is necessary to signal the car to turn left, only in this case the switch is moved down.
When you signal a right or left turn, an audible signal is emitted in the form of periodic clicks.
Accelerated (compared to usual) flashing of the turn signal indicators in the instrument cluster and more frequent clicking of the buzzer indicate that one of the turn signal bulbs is faulty and needs to be replaced.
Right steering column switch: 1 — windshield wiper pause duration adjustment ring; 2 — handle for switching on the fog lights in the rear lights
The windscreen wiper and washer functions, as well as the tailgate glass on hatchback and station wagon models, are only available when the ignition is on.
When operating the car in winter, the wiper blades may freeze to the glass while parked. Turning on the wiper at this time may cause its electric motor to fail. Before turning on the wiper, free the frozen blades from the glass.
To turn on the windshield wiper, move the right-hand paddle switch from the OFF position upward to one of the fixed positions:
- INT — intermittent operation mode of the cleaner;
- LO - continuous operation of the cleaner at low speed;
- HI - continuous operation mode of the cleaner at high speed.
To briefly turn on the wiper, lightly press the steering column switch towards the INT position and release it. The wiper will perform one working cycle.
A special ring located on the right steering column switch can be used to adjust the pause duration between wiper blade strokes in the INT position. To increase the pause duration, turn the ring toward you; to decrease it, turn it away from you. The maximum pause duration is 10 sec, the minimum is 2 sec.
To turn on the windshield washer, press the lever of the right steering column switch towards you (non-fixed position). The fluid will be supplied from the washer nozzles as long as you hold the steering column switch in this position. Simultaneously with the activation of the washer, the wiper blades will begin to move, making 2-4 movements on the glass (depending on the duration of pressing the steering column switch) without a pause between them.
To use the trunk glass cleaner on hatchback and station wagon models, move the right steering column switch away from you until it clicks (fixed position). At the same time, the wiper blade begins periodic movements across the glass with a pause lasting about 5 seconds.
To turn on the windshield washer for the luggage compartment door, press the steering column switch further away from you (non-fixed position). Now, simultaneously with the supply of liquid to the glass, the brush will make 2-4 movements without a pause between them.
To turn off the cleaning mode, move the right steering column switch towards you until it clicks.
The fog lights in the rear lights are turned on by turning the handle on the end of the right steering column switch away from you (non-fixed position). In this case, the corresponding orange indicator lights up in the instrument cluster. To switch off the lamps, turn the end of the switch again in the same direction. The fog lamps in the rear lights are switched on only if the low beam headlights are switched on. If, with the fog lamps in the rear lights switched on, the low beam headlights are switched off and then on again, these lamps will switch off automatically.
The light from the fog light bulbs in the taillights at night can dazzle drivers of vehicles traveling behind. Therefore, only switch on the fog light bulb in the tail light when necessary (in heavy fog, rain, snowfall and other conditions of poor visibility).

Low beam headlight beam regulator 1 and instrument cluster and control panel illumination brightness regulator 2
Low beam headlight beam regulator necessary so that when loading the car (passengers in the back seat, things in the trunk) the headlight beams did not rise and blind oncoming drivers.
Align the mark on the regulator handle with the corresponding number next to it for the following vehicle loading situations:
- 0 - one driver or driver and front seat passenger with empty trunk;
- 1 - driver and four passengers with an empty trunk;
- 2 - driver, four passengers and a loaded trunk;
- 3 - driver and fully loaded trunk.
This regulator does not apply to the high beam and side beam headlights, as well as fog lights.
Instrument cluster and control panel illumination brightness regulator allows you to reduce the brightness of the backlight, for example, during long periods of movement at night (so as not to tire your eyes). On the contrary, on a bright sunny day, the backlight brightness can be increased to ensure better readability of the instruments.
The backlight brightness adjustment does not apply to the clock display or the intensity of external lighting devices.
Hazard warning switch. To turn on the hazard warning lights, press the button on its switch. At the same time, all the direction indicators and their indicators in the instrument cluster start flashing. The operation of the hazard warning lights does not depend on the position of the ignition key in the ignition switch and the direction indicator being on. To turn off the hazard warning lights, press the button on its switch again.

Hazard warning switch (car panel with hatchback and station wagon bodies)
Rear window and exterior mirror heating switch. The switch button is located in the interior heating, ventilation and air conditioning control unit. The rear window and exterior mirror heating function is only available when the ignition is on and the engine is running.

Switch for heated rear window and outside mirrors (shown by arrow) in the control unit of the heating, ventilation and air conditioning system (manual air conditioner).
The rear window and exterior mirror heating elements (filaments) are very powerful consumers of electricity. Using the heating elements with the ignition on and the engine not running can lead to the battery being discharged.
When you press the button, the rear window and exterior mirror heating elements are turned on simultaneously, and the built-in orange indicator in the switch button lights up. To turn off the heating elements, you need to press the button again, and the indicator in it will go out. If you do not turn off this function yourself, it will turn off automatically after about 10 minutes to prevent the battery from discharging.
