In 2009, production of the car in South Korea was completed with the advent of Chevrolet Cruze, which continued the concept of this class. After that, production was gradually curtailed in other countries. In Uzbekistan, production continues to this day. Lacetti has many different names in different countries and regions. The car's classmates were Ford Focus, Lada Vesta, Kia ceed, Hyundai Elantra, Mazda 3, Mitsubishi Lancer, Opel Astra, Nissan Almera, Peugeot 301, Skoda Oktavia, Toyota Carina and Volkswagen Golf.
First generation (J200; 2002–2009)
The Lacetti was developed from its predecessor, the Nubira, by Daewoo before the company was acquired by GM. A prototype of the five-door hatchback was shown at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2003, and production began in December. The hatchback's exterior design was quite different from the sedan. At the Geneva Motor Show in March 2004, Daewoo showed a five-door station wagon variant.
In 2007, the sedan's appearance was updated, making it similar to the hatchback. This version was released only in some countries. In Russia, the car was sold since 2004 in all three body styles.
The range of petrol engines is represented by the following modifications: 1,4 liters (E-TEC II; 93 hp (69 kW) at 6300 rpm), 1,6 liters (E-TEC II; 109 hp (80 kW) at 5800 rpm), 1,8 liters (E-TEC II; 120 hp (90 kW) at 5800 rpm) and 2,0 liters (E-TEC II; 132 hp (101 kW) at 5800 rpm). Diesel engine one 2,0-liter with a capacity of 120 hp. There are two gearboxes - a 4-speed automatic and a 5-speed manual.
