The competitors of the Chevrolet Captiva are the following crossovers from other companies: Audi Q3, Great Wall Hover, Honda CR-V, Hyundai Tucson, Kia Sportage, Mazda CX-7, Mitsubishi Outlander, Peugeot 4008, Skoda Yeti, Opel Antara, Nissan X-Trail, Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota RAV4 and Volkswagen Tiguan.
First generation (C100; 2006–2018)
The S3X concept was developed by GM Daewoo's design center in Bupyeong-gu, Incheon and premiered at the 2004 Paris Motor Show. Another Daewoo concept car, the Chevrolet T2X, was unveiled at the 2005 Seoul Motor Show with the S3X design on a shortened platform. Production was scheduled for late 2006, but no further information has been released since 2009.
Depending on configuration, the Captiva has five or seven seats. Standard safety features include anti-lock braking system (ABS), electronic stability control (ESC), front seatbelt pretensioners, and driver and front passenger airbags. Side curtain airbags are optional. The car received four out of five stars in Euro NCAP crash tests.

These high results were achieved by using high-strength steel with programmed deformation in the car frame, which protects the passengers.
In the second quarter of 2011, the Captiva was given a facelift. The updates gave the car a new front panel, reminiscent of the second generation Chevrolet Aveo (T300). Other cosmetic changes include LED turn signals on the outside mirrors, revised wheels and redesigned side vents. Technical changes include suspension, four new engines and improved gearboxes.
The second update of the Chevrolet Captiva 2016 model year was presented at the International Motor Show in Dubai on November 10, 2015. The car was equipped with new LED headlights, a new design of the radiator grille and bumper was made and the dashboard was changed, but the previous appearance of the instrument panel was left.
Captiva is equipped with petrol engines of the following modifications - 2.4-liter 4-cylinder in-line with a capacity of 138, 165 and 170 hp, until 2011 there was a 3.2-liter 6-cylinder V-shaped (Alloytec) with a capacity of 227 hp, and since 2011 they put a 3.0-liter V6 (SIDI) with a capacity of 255 hp. Diesel engines before 2011 were 2.0-liter 4-cylinder in-line with a capacity of 150 hp, and since 2011 they began to put 2.2-liter in-line with a capacity of 160 and 181 hp. Gearboxes are three modifications - 5- or 6-speed automatic or 5-speed mechanics.
