In 2009, GM began production of Chevrolet Cruze cars at the General Motors Auto plant in St. Petersburg.
Chevrolet Cruze cars are equipped with petrol engines with a working volume of 1.6 l (113 hp) and 1.8 l (141 hp) in three trim levels: Base, LS and LT.
The Base package includes anti-lock braking system (ABS), four airbags, CD/MP3 audio system with four speakers, front electric windows, height-adjustable steering column.
The LS trim (the "base plus trim") adds rear power windows, front fog lights, and a leather-trimmed steering wheel and shift knob.
The LT package ("LS plus package"), in addition to the previously listed, includes a climate control system, a cruise control system, light-alloy wheels with a radius of 17 inches, an electronic anti-aircraft ESP system and a six-speaker audio system.
The cars are equipped with a 5-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission.
The front suspension is independent, MacPherson type, the rear is semi-independent, torsion type.
The brake mechanisms of all wheels are disc, with a floating caliper, and the discs of the front brake mechanisms are ventilated. The drum mechanisms of the parking brake are built into the brake mechanisms of the rear wheels.
The steering is trauma-safe, with hydraulic booster.
The body is a four-door sedan, all-metal, welded construction with hinged front fenders, doors, hood and trunk lid.
