- a canopy where the temperature and humidity correspond to the parameters of the environment, there is a constant movement of air and there is no direct effect of solar radiation and precipitation;
- a heated room, an individual garage with a temperature not lower than plus 5°C and a relative humidity of 50-70%, equipped with supply and exhaust ventilation.
If a heated room, an individual garage has inefficient supply and exhaust ventilation, and the car is operated in the winter or after washing it is put into storage without prior drying, then the destructive effect of corrosion increases many times over.
When storing the car for a long time in winter under a canopy or in an unheated room, remove the battery and audio equipment and store them separately; Drain the fluid from the windshield washer reservoirs.
When preparing the vehicle for long-term storage:
- Wash the car and wipe the body dry. Remove corrosion. Paint the surface with damaged paint. Apply a preservative to the body.
- Start and warm up the engine. Stop the engine, turn out the spark plugs and pour 25-30 g of heated engine oil into each cylinder, then turn the crankshaft 10-15 revolutions and wrap the candles.
- Seal the outlet of the main muffler pipe with paper or cloth oiled tape.
- Cover the engine with a tarpaulin or sheet to protect it from dust. Place the vehicle on stands so that the wheels are raised off the ground.
- Fully charge the battery and store it in a cool, dry place.
Vehicle maintenance during storage (once every two months) is as follows:
- Examine the car. Clean and paint over the areas affected by corrosion on the painted surface.
- Remove the spark plugs, rotate the crankshaft 2-3 turns and reinstall the spark plugs.
- Turn the steering wheel 1-1.5 turns in each direction. Operate the brake and clutch pedals, accelerator pedal and parking brake three to five times.
- When the car is stored for a long time, more than 1 month, it is necessary to control the battery. Check the density and, if necessary, recharge the battery.
