Warning: Vehicles described in this manual. equipped with a passive safety system (SRS), also known as an air spring system. Before carrying out work in the area where the elements of this system are located, you should turn off its power, since accidental deployment of the airbags can result in serious injury (see chapter 12).
The bodies of the cars described in this manual have a side member frame made of stamped elements, on which body parts, front and rear suspension axles, as well as other mechanical elements of the car are mounted.
The most vulnerable body parts in an accident can be removed by unscrewing the fasteners and restored or replaced. These elements include body trim, bumpers, front fenders, hood, tailgate, side doors, and all glass.
This chapter describes procedures that can be performed independently by a car mechanic.
