Note: The hood is a heavy and bulky body part. To successfully complete this procedure, at least two people must be involved.
Removal and installation
1. Cover the area of the fenders and other body parts adjacent to the hood with a blanket or cape to protect the body and its paintwork when removing the cover.
2. To ensure alignment during subsequent installation, outline the contours of the hinges on the lid using a marker (see illustration).
10.2. Use an assistant to hold the lid, trace its hinges, unscrew the bolts and remove the lid
3. Disconnect the engine compartment light connector and the ground wire bus located at the rear of the cover.
4. Enlist the help of an assistant to hold the lid. Unscrew the bolts securing the lid to the hinges.
5. Remove the hood cover.
6. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
Adjustment
7. The horizontal position of the lid is adjusted by positioning it after loosening the hinge bolts.
8. By outlining the loop contour, you can determine the amount of movement of the lid.
9. Loosen the nuts and install the cover in the required position. When adjusting, move the cover a small distance at a time. Tighten the hinge nuts and carefully lower the lid to check its alignment.
10. Remove the plastic radiator cap (see subsection 9) and adjust the latch position to ensure the lid closes securely (see illustration).
10.10. To adjust the position of the hood latch in the horizontal and vertical planes, it is necessary to apply relative position marks and loosen the latch bolts
11. Install the cover stops on the radiator mounting crossbar so that the cover is aligned with the fenders in the closed position (see illustration).
10.11. To position the edges of the hood cover at the same level as the front fenders, it is necessary to adjust the height of the bump stops by screwing them in or out
12. Also, during the adjustment, you can position the latch in the plane of the hood cover after loosening the mounting bolts.
13. The bonnet latch and its hinges must be periodically lubricated with lithium oil to prevent jamming and reduce wear.
