This chapter describes procedures related to transmission components located in the area from the transmission (or a transfer case, if its presence is provided for by the design) to the driven wheels of the car. The described elements are divided into two groups: cardan transmission and drive shafts (half-axles). Separate subsections provide general descriptions, as well as descriptions of inspection procedures for elements of each group.
Since almost all of the procedures described involve working on the vehicle from the bottom, ensure its stability by installing reliable supports after lifting it with a jack, or lift and lower it using a special lift.
