Removal and installation the cardan shaft (Chevrolet Niva 1)

Place the car on a lift (above the inspection ditch), ensuring free rotation of the front and rear wheels on one or both sides of the vehicle.

Securely park the vehicle, release the parking brake and place the gearshift lever in neutral.

Remove the front and rear propeller shafts.

Install clamp A.70025 on the flexible coupling of the intermediate shaft and, turning the shaft, unscrew the nuts of the bolts fastening the flexible coupling to the flange of the secondary shaft of the gearbox. Remove the fastening bolts. Unscrew the nuts fastening the hinge to the flange of the transfer case. By moving the hinge with the shaft in the direction of the gearbox, remove the hinge studs from the holes in the flange, and then, turning, remove the intermediate cardan shaft.

The cardan shafts are installed in the reverse order of removal. Before installing the intermediate shaft, lubricate the flange surface under the centering ring with a thin layer of Fiol-1 or Fiol-2U grease to facilitate installation.
