Antifreeze — general information (Chevrolet Trailblazer 1)

            0

Warning: Do not allow antifreeze to come into contact with your skin or painted surfaces of your vehicle. If antifreeze gets in, rinse with running water. Avoid swallowing antifreeze, which is highly toxic. Do not store antifreeze in open containers, and do not leave it in puddles on the garage floor or asphalt; children and pets, attracted by the sweet smell, may drink it. Dispose of used antifreeze in accordance with applicable environmental protection requirements. Do not pour antifreeze on the ground or down a drain.

Warning: manufacturers recommend using only "DEX-COOL" antifreeze in these systems, which has an extended replacement interval. It is prohibited to mix green ethylene glycol antifreeze with orange antifreeze of the specified brand, which does not contain silicate components, since this reduces the efficiency of the latter, which is intended for use over a mileage of 160,000 km (or 5 years).

The cooling system should be filled with a solution of antifreeze "DEX-COOL", which does not freeze at least to -30°C. Such a cooling liquid prevents the occurrence of corrosion and has an increased boiling point.

The engine cooling system should be flushed and the coolant replaced in accordance with the maintenance schedule (see chapter 1). Neglect of periodic replacement leads to the formation of corrosion deposits in the system and reduces its operating efficiency.

Before adding antifreeze to the system, inspect its connections. Antifreeze has increased fluidity and can seep through the smallest cracks and holes. Typically, there is no intensive consumption of coolant - if the level is constantly decreasing, inspect the system for leaks.

The concentration of the antifreeze solution depends on the weather conditions in which the car is operated and is within 50-70%. Before adding antifreeze, study the instructions on the container in which it is supplied. To check the concentration of the solution, you can use a hydrometer (see illustration). Use antifreeze that meets the manufacturer's specifications.
