Replacing the exhaust system suspension cushions (Chevrolet Lacetti J200)

If the rubber cushions of the exhaust system suspension are damaged, knocking sounds may be heard under the car's bottom when the car is moving or when the engine is started due to the system parts touching the body. The cushions may be torn, lose elasticity, have cracks and tears.

The suspension pads of the main muffler, two additional mufflers and the intermediate pipe are slightly different from each other in design, but are identical in the method of fastening. We show the operations on the rear suspension pad of the main muffler.

The remaining suspension cushions are removed and installed in a similar manner.



We spray the holes in the cushion, into which the muffler and body brackets enter, with silicone grease.



Using your hand or a screwdriver, pull the cushion off the main muffler bracket.





Pull the cushion off the body bracket and remove it. If the cushion is to be replaced, it can also be removed from the brackets by cutting it with a knife.

Before installing a new cushion, clean the brackets and spray the cushion holes with silicone grease.
