Replacing the exhaust system suspension cushions (Chevrolet Cruze J300)

The rubber mounts of the exhaust system suspension are replaced if, due to damage or excessive deformation, the system elements begin to knock when in contact with the body or other vehicle components.



1. To replace the additional muffler cushions, remove the amplifier from the subframe



2. Slide the replacement cushion off the muffler bracket...



3. ...and remove the pillow.

Helpful Hint: If you are replacing a damaged cushion, use a knife to cut through the holes to make removal easier.

4. Install the new cushion in the reverse order of removal.

Helpful Hint: To make installation of the cushion easier, lubricate the muffler and body brackets with a soap solution.

5. To replace the front main muffler mounting pads, use a screwdriver to slide the pad to be replaced off the bracket on the body...



6. ...then from the muffler bracket...



7. ...and remove the pillow.



8. Install the new cushion in the reverse order of removal.

9. Similarly, replace the second mounting cushion of the rear part of the main muffler to the body.



10. To replace the mounting cushion of the rear part of the main muffler, unscrew the nut that secures the cushion to the body...



11. ...slide the replacement cushion off the muffler bracket with a screwdriver...



12. ...and remove the pillow.

13. Install the new cushion in the reverse order of removal.
