However, if a significant oil leak was detected during the operation of the car, it would be better, instead of topping up with another brand of oil, to replace it with a new one.
It is recommended to change gear oil on a warm gearbox.
It's best to schedule an oil change after a long trip.
We clean the bottom cover of the gearbox.
With the "13" head, we partially unscrew the cover fastening bolts..
... and through the gap formed between the cover and the gearbox housing, drain the oil into a substituted container.
Completely unscrew the bolts and remove the cover.
We clean it from deposits of wear products of gearbox parts and traces of the old gasket, and also clean the mating surface of the gearbox housing from traces of the old gasket.
We replace the gasket with a new one.
In the absence of a new gasket, a special sealant-former gasket can be applied to the mating surface of the cover in a continuous layer.
Before installing the cover in place, to ensure reliable fixation, we apply on the threaded part of the bolts..
…anaerobic threadlocker.
We screw in the bolts and evenly tighten them.
Pour gear oil into the gearbox to the required level (see Checking the level and adding oil to the gearbox).
