Engine lubrication system (Chevrolet Niva 1)

            0

When the engine is running, engine oil consumption is normal. The amount of oil consumption depends on the driving style of the car and is determined by the engine load and the crankshaft speed. During the initial period of operation, oil consumption is slightly increased.

Therefore, regularly, especially before long trips, check the oil level in the engine crankcase.

Check the oil level on a cold, non-running engine and add oil if necessary. The oil level should be between the "MIN" and "MAX" marks on the gauge, Figure 41. Add fresh oil through the filler neck closed with plug 5, Figure 41.

The oil level should not exceed the "MAX" mark on the indicator. Otherwise, the oil will enter the combustion chamber through the crankcase ventilation system and be emitted into the atmosphere along with the exhaust gases. On vehicles equipped with a catalytic converter, the combustion products of the oil can disable the converter.
