Checking the level and density of the liquid in the cooling system (Chevrolet Niva 1)

The correct filling of the cooling system is checked by the liquid level in the expansion tank, which is on a cold engine (at 15-20 oC) should be 3-4 cm above the "MIN" mark on the expansion tank.

Warning: It is recommended to check the fluid level on a cold engine, since when heated its volume increases and the fluid level on a warm engine can rise significantly.

If necessary, check the coolant density with a hydrometer. For Tosol A-40, the density should be 1.078-1.085 g/cm³.

If the fluid level in the tank is below normal and the density is above normal, then add distilled water. If the density is normal, add the fluid of the brand that is in the cooling system.

If the density of the liquid in the cooling system is below the norm, and the car will be used in the cold season, then it is necessary to replace the coolant.
