1. Unlike a mechanical steering system, a power steering system requires periodic topping up of fluid.
2. On all models under consideration, the power steering reservoir is located on the pump body, which is located in front of the engine (see illustration).
6.2. The dipstick for determining the fluid level is located in the power steering pump reservoir. To remove the cover, unscrew it counterclockwise
3. When checking, the steering wheel should be positioned in the direction of straight-ahead movement and the engine should be turned off.
4. Wipe the tank lid and the surrounding area with a clean cloth. This measure will prevent foreign particles from entering the tank when checking the fluid level.
5. Unscrew the cap and, touching the dipstick with your finger, assess the temperature of the liquid.
6. Wipe up any spilled fluid with a clean cloth, reinsert the dipstick into the reservoir, then remove it and check the level. The liquid level must correspond to its temperature, which was assessed earlier (cold or hot) (see illustration). Do not allow the level to fall below the dipstick limit mark.
6.6. The dipstick has corresponding marks for checking the level of warmed up and unwarmed up power steering fluid
7. If necessary, add the appropriate type of liquid to the tank, using a funnel to prevent spillage.
8. If fluid needs to be added frequently, inspect the power steering hoses and connectors, as well as the steering gearbox and pump, for signs of wear or leaks.
