1. Unlike a mechanical steering system, a power steering system requires periodic addition of fluid.
2. On all models under consideration, the power steering reservoir is located on the pump housing, which is located in front of the engine (see illustration).
6.2. The dipstick for determining the fluid level is located in the power steering pump reservoir. To remove the cover, unscrew it counterclockwise
3. When checking, the steering wheel should be positioned in the direction of straight-ahead travel and the engine should be turned off.
4. Use a clean cloth to wipe off the reservoir lid and the surrounding area. This measure will prevent foreign particles from entering the reservoir when checking the fluid level.
5. Unscrew the cap and touch the dipstick with your finger to assess the temperature of the liquid.
6. Wipe off any spilled liquid with a clean cloth, reinsert the dipstick into the reservoir, then remove it and determine the level. The liquid level must correspond to its temperature, which was assessed previously (cold or hot) (see illustration). Do not allow the level to fall below the dipstick limit mark.
6.6. The dipstick for determining the level has corresponding marks for checking the level of heated and unheated power steering fluid
7. If necessary, add the appropriate type of fluid to the reservoir, using a funnel to prevent spillage.
8. If topping up fluid is required frequently, inspect the power steering system hoses and connectors, as well as the steering gearbox and pump for signs of wear or leaks.
