Emissions related fault codes

Actions Taken When a DTC Sets - Type A

The controller illuminates the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) when a malfunction is detected during diagnostics.

Actions to Take When a DTC Sets - Type E

The controller illuminates the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) during the next ignition cycle in which a malfunction is detected for the second time during the diagnostic process.

Conditions for clearing the fault code / turning off the fault indication - type A or type E
  • The controller turns off the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) after 3 consecutive ignition cycles in which no faults are detected during the diagnostic run.
  • The current "Last check failed" fault code is cleared after the diagnostics are completed successfully.
  • Use the scanning device to turn off the fault indicator light and erase the DTC.

Non-Emissions Related Fault Codes

Actions taken when a fault code is set - Type C
  • The controller records a fault code in memory when a fault is detected during diagnostics.
  • As soon as an error occurs, the Service Vehicle Soon (SVS) indicator lights up.
  • If the vehicle is equipped with a driver information center, a message may be displayed on it.

Conditions for clearing fault codes - type C
  • The fault data found during the last previous diagnostics or active fault codes are cleared if no faults are found during the diagnostics.
  • Use a scan tool to clear DTCs.
