We are working to check and replace the switch.
The switch is located on the brake pedal bracket under the instrument panel.
Disconnect the wire terminal from the "negative" terminal of the battery. Removing the lower trim of the instrument panel (see Removal of the bottom facing of the panel of devices).
By pressing the lock of the block, disconnect the block of the wiring harness from the switch (Dashboard removed for clarity).
Turn the switch 90° (for clarity shown on the removed brake pedal)
and remove the switch from the hole in the pedal bracket.
Use an ohmmeter to test the switch.
We connect the probes of the ohmmeter to the contacts of the switch.
At a serviceable switch, when its stem is in a free position (switch contacts closed), the device must detect the presence of a circuit and, conversely, with a "recessed" stem, the circuit must be open.
Install the switch in the pedal bracket. To adjust the length of the switch rod, pressing the brake pedal with your hand, extend the switch rod to the stop and release the pedal. Connect the wiring harness to the switch.
