Removal

1. The brake light switch is located on the bracket on top of the brake pedal. The switch turns on the brake lights at the rear of the vehicle when the brake pedal is pressed.

2. Remove the cover located under the instrument panel and disconnect the electrical wiring leading to the footrest light on this panel.

3. Locate the switch at the top of the brake pedal (see illustration). If the vehicle is equipped with a fuel-efficient driving system (cruise control), there is another switch, very similar in appearance. The brake light switch is the one located towards the end of the bracket (arrow).

4. Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery.

5. Disconnect the connectors from the brake light switch.

6. Press the brake pedal and remove the switch from its clip. The switch appears to be threaded, but is designed to be removed and inserted into the clamp without screwing.

Installation and adjustment

7. While pressing the brake pedal, insert the new switch into the clamp. Please note that you will hear clicking sounds.

8. Pull the brake pedal all the way back, pressing it against the pedal stop until the clicking sounds stop. This action will automatically move the switch to the desired value; no further adjustment is required.

Caution: Do not apply excessive force during this adjustment, as this may damage the brake booster.

9. Connect the connectors to the switch and battery. With the help of an assistant, check the operation of the rear brake lights.
