We set the front wheels to the position of straight-line movement of the car.
Remove the driver's airbag (see Removal the driver's airbag).
Using a marker, mark the position of the steering wheel relative to the shaft.
To avoid injury when pulling the steering wheel off the steering shaft splines, do not completely loosen the wheel mounting nut.

Using a 22 mm socket with an extension, loosen the nut that secures the steering wheel to the steering shaft, but not all the way.

While rocking, we pull the steering wheel towards ourselves and remove it from the splines of the steering shaft.
We completely unscrew the steering wheel mounting nut and remove it…

…by routing the airbag and horn wire harnesses through the hole in the wheel hub.

We remove the spring.
We install the steering wheel in the reverse order.
