Description and testing of electric windows (Chevrolet Lumina 1)

The window lifts are driven by electric motors installed in the doors. The system consists of control switches, electric motors, and glass lifting mechanisms (regulators) and wires. Since electric windows are quite complex, their repair should be carried out in a workshop. However, the vehicle owner has the ability to perform simple electrical and vacuum connection checks to troubleshoot minor problems. These operations include:

• a) Checking the integrity of the wires and the reliability of the switch connections.
• b) Checking the fuses and/or circuit breaker.
• c) Removing the door panels and checking the electric motor wires; their integrity and reliability of connections are checked. It is also necessary to check for faults in the window lifting mechanisms, which may lead to jamming.
