Cars produced in 1994 are equipped with the SRS system, better known as the "airbag". This system is designed to prevent serious injury to the driver in a frontal collision at an angle of up to 30° relative to the longitudinal axis of the car. The system includes a bladder for filling the airbag located in the center of the steering wheel, a squib and a front recognition sensor located in the front part, as well as a recognition sensor and a diagnostic backup power supply (DERM) unit installed in the vehicle interior.
On vehicles with airbags, DO NOT remove the steering wheel without first locking the airbag or having it removed from the steering wheel by a workshop. Failure to do so may result in the airbag accidentally deploying, which could result in serious injury.
