You will need a rod of a suitable diameter.
1. Disconnect the wire from the terminal «minus» battery.
Warnings: For diagnostics and repair of electronic passive safety systems (SRS) requires special equipment and fixtures. In case of failure, contact a specialized service station. To avoid injury from unauthorized operation of pyrotechnic charges, do not disassemble the system components yourself. However, when repairing the steering, electrical system and bodywork, the driver's airbag module may interfere with the work. If it is necessary to remove and install it, work can be carried out independently, strictly adhering to the following rules for operating the system:
- Disconnect the battery before starting work. Attempting to remove the airbag without turning off the power supply may cause the airbag to deploy unexpectedly;
- it is possible to proceed with the following operations to remove the airbag only after the activator capacitor is completely discharged. To discharge the capacitor, it is necessary after disconnecting the wire from the terminal «minus» battery, wait at least 10 seconds,
- Do not disassemble the airbag module;
- do not allow the airbag module to fall and get water, grease or oil on it;
- the airbag module removed from the vehicle must be stored on a flat horizontal surface with the module facing upwards;
- the airbag module must not be exposed to temperatures above 95°C.
2. Turn the steering wheel 180°from straight ahead.
3. Using a rod of suitable diameter, press the latches of the airbag module towards the center while pulling the module towards you.
Note: The airbag module retainers are pressed out with a pin through these holes. For clarity, shown on the removed steering wheel. Releasing the latches actuates the springs, so hold the module during this operation.
4. Move the module away from the steering wheel hub.
5. Slide the retainer securing the wiring harness block to the airbag module...
6.... and separate the pads.
7. Remove the driver's airbag module.
8. Install the driver's airbag in the reverse order of removal.
Warnings: When installing the module in the steering wheel of a car, stay out of the airbag deployment area.
When you turn on the ignition for the first time after installing the airbag module in the vehicle, be outside the vehicle and turn on the ignition switch by reaching under the lower steering column cover.
