Daytime lighting system (DRL) ensures automatic switching on of low beam headlights when the engine starts. The headlights go out when the engine is running only when the automatic transmission selector is moved to the Park position. After releasing the parking brake and moving the selector lever to another position, the headlights continue to operate as long as the ignition switch is in the ON position.
The DRL system provides a low-voltage supply to the headlights, which reduces the brightness of the bulbs during daylight hours and increases their service life.
