Ventilation nozzles in the instrument panel

The central and side air vents in the instrument panel can be adjusted up and down, as well as side to side. The side air vents can also be directed at the side windows to defog them.

Instrument panel compartment

To open the instrument panel compartment, pull the latch handle upwards. Removing the instrument panel compartment is necessary to access the passenger airbag module (if it is installed).

Digital watch

The digital clock is located on the instrument panel above the radio. The clock can display the outside temperature and the time in 12-hour and 24-hour formats.

Instrument cluster

The instrument cluster is located above the steering column in the instrument panel. The instrument cluster consists of instruments that provide the driver with information about the vehicle's operation. The instrument cluster includes a speedometer, tachometer, trip meter, trip meter, temperature gauge, fuel gauge, and several indicator lights.

Speedometer

The speedometer measures the speed of the vehicle in kilometers per hour or miles per hour (km/h). It consists of a pointer in the instrument cluster connected to a vehicle speed sensor mounted on the secondary shaft of the gearbox.

Daily mileage counter

The trip meter measures the distance the vehicle has traveled since it was last reset. It consists of a pointer in the instrument cluster connected to a sensor mounted on the transmission output shaft. The trip meter can be reset to zero at any time, allowing the driver to measure the distance traveled from any starting point.

Fuel level indicator

The fuel gauge consists of a gauge in the instrument cluster connected to a sensor in the fuel tank.

The fuel gauge shows the amount of fuel in the tank only when the ignition switch is in the ON or ACC position. When the ignition switch is in the LOCK or START position, the needle can stop at any position.

Temperature indicator

The temperature gauge consists of a pointer in the instrument cluster connected to a temperature sensor in contact with the circulating fluid that cools the engine.

The temperature gauge shows the coolant temperature. After a long drive or prolonged idling in hot weather, the needle may move beyond the center of the gauge. The engine is overheating if the needle moves into the red zone at the top of the gauge scale.

Tachometer

The tachometer measures engine speed in thousands of revolutions per minute. It consists of a pointer in the instrument cluster connected to a sensor in the engine control module.

Do not operate the engine if the needle has moved into the red zone. Engine damage may occur.

Sound alarm

The sounder module will sound an audible alarm to draw attention to one or more of the following conditions:

  • The headlights are on and the ignition is not in the ACC, ON or START position.
  • The ignition key is in the ignition switch when the driver's side door is open.

Voltage is supplied to the sound alarm module continuously through the fuse box.

Driver Information Center

The Driver Information Center (DIC) is mounted in the center of the instrument cluster. The Driver Information Center displays data from the heating and ventilation systems, as well as the on-board computer. There are no serviceable parts in the DIC module. If any part of it malfunctions, the entire module must be replaced.
