We bleed the power steering system after depressurization associated with repair of its individual elements, and when the efficiency of the system decreases due to air getting into it.
Before bleeding, it is necessary to eliminate the cause of air entering the system.
We perform pumping in the following sequence.
1. Turn the steering wheel to the left until it stops, open the power steering reservoir cap and add working fluid to the reservoir up to the MIN mark.
2. Start the engine. Check the fluid level in the tank while the engine is running at medium speed. If necessary, top it up to the MIN mark.
3. Turn the steering wheel left and right several times, but not all the way, making sure that the level of the working fluid in the tank does not fall below the minimum permissible level.
4. Return the steered wheels to the straight-ahead position and let the engine run for another 2–3 minutes.
5. Check the operation of the power steering while the vehicle is moving.
Normal operation of the power steering should not be accompanied by noise.
6. Check the fluid level in the tank again, as indicated in points 1 and 2.
After warming up and stabilizing the temperature of the working fluid, its level should be at the MAX mark, and when cold, it should not fall below the MIN mark. If necessary, add fluid to the MIN mark.
