We pump out the fluid from the reservoir of the power steering pump.
Removing the air filter housing (see Removing the air filter).
Remove the accessory drive belt (see Accessory drive belt replacement).
We show the replacement of the power steering pump on a car with a system that does not change the effort in the hydraulic steering drive depending on the speed of the car.
We substitute a container under the power steering pump to collect the working fluid.
Squeezing with pliers the antennae of the clamp that fastens the filling line hose to the pump nozzle, we move the clamp along the hose..
... and remove the hose from the pump nozzle.
Using the "16" key, we unscrew the fitting of the discharge line pipe...... and remove the tip of the tube from the hole of the pump fitting.
The connection of the tube tip with the pump fitting is sealed with a rubber ring.
We substitute a height-adjustable stop through a wooden spacer under the engine crankcase and unscrew the nut securing the right support of the power unit to the cylinder block bracket (see Replacing power unit supports).
We lift the power unit with an emphasis so that the pin of the pillow of the right support comes out of the hole in the bracket of the cylinder block.
Through the holes in the pump pulley with a "12" head with an extension, we unscrew the two nuts securing the pump to the bracket of mounted units.
We shift the pump along the studs of the bracket of mounted units (for clarity shown on the dismantled bracket) …
... and remove the pump from the engine compartment.
On a car with a system that changes the effort in the hydraulic steering drive depending on the speed of the car, we dismantle the pump in the same way. In this case, before removing the power steering pump, it is necessary to disconnect the wiring block from the solenoid valve located on the pump.
Install the power steering pump in reverse order. If the rubber ring is damaged (breaks, cracks) sealing fitting of the discharge pipe, the ring must be replaced.
Removing air from the hydraulic system (see Bleeding the power steering system).
