Removal the steering rod (Chevrolet Lacetti J200)

We remove the steering rod for replacement if the thread on the rod is damaged or the ball joint of the rod is worn out, as well as when repairing the steering mechanism.

We dismantle the steering mechanism assembly with steering rods and tips (see Removal the steering gear).

To replace the right steering rod, it is necessary to remove both steering gear boots.

We assemble and install the steering mechanism with rods in the reverse order.

Before screwing in the tie rod joint housing, apply a sealing sealant to its threaded tip.

We tighten the ball joint housings of the rods to the prescribed torque (see Appendices).

Before installing the steering mechanism, set the rack to its middle position (rectilinear movement of a car).

After installing the steering mechanism on the vehicle, we check and, if necessary, adjust the wheel alignment angle at the service station.
