1. Remove the power steering pump drive belt (see "Replacement of auxiliary drive belts").

NOTE: If you are not going to replace the power steering pump drive belt, remove it from the pump pulley only.

During the process of removing the belt, the upper pump mounting bolt was unscrewed...

and the lower bolt is loose.

2. Squeeze the bent ears of the return line hose clamp to the pump branch pipe, slide the clamp along the hose...

3. ... remove the return line hose from the power steering pump branch pipe and drain the working fluid from the power steering reservoir and hose into a suitable container.

4. Loosen the nut securing the pressure line to the power steering pump fitting...

5. ...and disconnect the pipeline.
WARNING: Take measures to prevent the working fluid from leaking out of the pipelines by plugging them, for example, with wooden plugs.

NOTE: Replace the rubber sealing ring of the pipe with a new one each time the connection is disassembled.

6. Completely unscrew the lower pump mounting bolt.

7. Place a jack under the engine (or lift the right side of the power unit with a lifting mechanism) and lift the power unit within the elastic displacement of the right support of its suspension so much...

8. ...so that the lower pump mounting bolt can be removed.

NOTE: After removing the mounting bolts, the pump remains clamped between the front bracket leg and the threaded bushing (shown in the photo by an arrow), pressed into the rear leg of the bracket.

9. To remove the pump, move the threaded sleeve slightly in the bracket hole, for which you will need to select a suitable spacer (you can use an old large nut) and screw a short bolt with a thread similar to the thread of the standard pump mounting bolts through it into the threaded sleeve. Tightening the bolt, move the sleeve in the bracket hole...

10. ...and remove the pump.

11. If necessary, unscrew the two bolts securing the pump bracket to the engine cylinder block...

12. ... remove the bolts...

13. ...and remove the bracket.
14. Install the power steering pump mounting bracket and pump in the reverse order of removal.
CAUTION: Attempting to install the power steering pump drive belt with the pump fully secured will damage the belt, as it is designed to be stretched only once when first installed. Therefore, after installing the pump in the bracket, first screw in the lower pump mounting bolt until it stops, but do not tighten it. Then slide the pump toward the engine block and place the drive belt on the pump pulley.

After this, use a wrench to push the pump away from the cylinder block, as shown in the photo; holding it in this position, screw in the upper pump mounting bolt and tighten it. If the pump is not locked in the depressed position, the upper bolt may be screwed into the bracket hole at an angle, which will damage the bolt threads and the hole in the bracket. After tightening the upper bolt, tighten the lower bolt.

15. Fill the power steering system with fluid and bleed air from it (see "Bleeding the power steering system").
