According to the manufacturer's recommendation, the fluid in the power steering system is not changed during the entire life of the vehicle. However, if the fluid in the tank is heavily contaminated or darkened, then it should be replaced.
USEFUL ADVICE: In case of severe contamination or darkening of the liquid, check the serviceability of the power steering pump and steering gear. They may need to be repaired or replaced.
NOTE: Do not reuse the drained fluid: it is contaminated, saturated with air and moisture. Always fill the system with only new fluid of the brand that was filled before.
1. Raise the front of the vehicle and place it on jack stands so that the front wheels are off the ground. If you have a lift, you can raise the entire vehicle.
2. Pump out (e.g. with a syringe or a rubber bulb) fluid from the power steering reservoir.
3. Squeeze the clamp of the liquid supply hose to the tank...
4.... slide it along the hose and disconnect the hose from the tank fitting.
5. Dip the end of the disconnected hose into a prepared container. If the length of the hose is not enough, extend it with a piece of any hose of a suitable diameter.
6. Drain the fluid from the power steering system by starting the engine two or three times for a few seconds and simultaneously turning the steering wheel alternately in both directions until it stops.
7. Connect the fluid return hose to the power steering reservoir.
8. Fill fluid reservoir and bleed air from power steering system (see «Bleeding the power steering system»). Do not overfill liquid above the mark «MAX».
9. Replace the plug and wipe off any drips.
