Replacing the contact group and cylinder mechanism of the ignition switch (Chevrolet Lanos T150)

We replace the contact group and the cylinder mechanism of the ignition switch (lock) when they fail.

Disconnect the wire terminal from the negative terminal of the battery.

Remove the upper and lower steering column covers (see Removal the steering column paddle shifters, coil cable drum and switch connector).

By pressing the connector lock, we disconnect the wiring connector from the ignition switch contact…

Using a Phillips screwdriver, unscrew the screw securing the contact group (for clarity, shown on a…


Using a Phillips screwdriver, unscrew the screw securing the contact group (for clarity, shown on a removed steering column).

We remove the ignition switch contact group.


We remove the ignition switch contact group.



We install the contact group in the reverse order.

To replace the cylinder mechanism of the lock, insert the key into the ignition switch and turn it to the "ACC" position.

Press the lock with a screwdriver (for clarity, shown on a removed steering column)…

…and we remove the cylinder mechanism from the ignition switch housing.

We install the cylinder mechanism of the lock in the reverse order.
