Removal the steering column paddle shifters, coil cable drum and switch connector (Chevrolet Lanos T150)

We perform the work when replacing the steering column switches, the drum device of the spiral cable, the switch connector, as well as when removing the steering column and instrument panel.

The steering column paddle shifters and the airbag coil cable reel are secured to the steering column paddle shifter connector.

Disconnect the wire terminal from the negative terminal of the battery.

We set the front wheels to the position of straight-line movement of the car.

Remove the steering wheel (see Removal the steering wheel).

To remove the steering column switches…

...using a Phillips screwdriver, unscrew the two screws that connect the upper and lower steering…


...using a Phillips screwdriver, unscrew the two screws that connect the upper and lower steering column covers together.

Using a Phillips screwdriver, unscrew the three screws securing the lower casing of the steering…


Using a Phillips screwdriver, unscrew the three screws securing the lower casing of the steering column.



Remove the upper steering column cover.


Remove the upper steering column cover.

Remove the lower steering column cover.


Remove the lower steering column cover.

Squeezing the clamps with your fingers (top and bottom)…

…we remove the right steering column switch from the connector.


…we remove the right steering column switch from the connector.



By pressing the connector lock, we disconnect the wiring harness connector from the steering column…


By pressing the connector lock, we disconnect the wiring harness connector from the steering column switch.

We remove the left steering column switch in the same way.

At the same time, we additionally disconnect the wiring block of the fog light switch.

For this…

…we pull out the wiring harness with pads from under the steering column.

By pressing the connector lock, we disconnect the connector of the fog light switch wires from the…


By pressing the connector lock, we disconnect the connector of the fog light switch wires from the connector of the wiring harness.



We install the steering column switches in the reverse order.

To remove the drum unit and switch connector, remove the upper and lower steering column covers (see above).

Using a Phillips screwdriver, unscrew the four screws securing the lower instrument panel trim.


Using a Phillips screwdriver, unscrew the four screws securing the lower instrument panel trim.

Remove the lower instrument panel trim.


Remove the lower instrument panel trim.

The wire connectors of the drum device and the sound signal switches are covered with foam rubber.

We clean some of the foam rubber from the pads.

By pressing the block lock, we disconnect the block of wires of the drum device from the block of…


By pressing the block lock, we disconnect the block of wires of the drum device from the block of the wiring harness of the instrument panel.



By pressing the connector lock, we disconnect the connector of the horn switches from the connector…


By pressing the connector lock, we disconnect the connector of the horn switches from the connector of the instrument panel wiring harness.

By pressing the locking petal with your finger…

…remove the wiring harness holder from the steering column bracket.


…remove the wiring harness holder from the steering column bracket.

We remove the drum device wire holder in the same way.


We remove the drum device wire holder in the same way.



Using a Phillips screwdriver, unscrew the four screws securing the drum device.


Using a Phillips screwdriver, unscrew the four screws securing the drum device.

We remove the drum device from the switch connector.


We remove the drum device from the switch connector.

We remove the steering column switches.

We unscrew the two screws securing the connector.


We unscrew the two screws securing the connector.

Remove the switch connector from the steering column.


Remove the switch connector from the steering column.

Disconnect the ground wire from the connector.


Disconnect the ground wire from the connector.

We install the switch connector and the drum device in the reverse order.

Before installing the steering wheel, install the spiral cable in the drum device in the middle position so that when turning the steering wheel to the stop, the spiral cable does not break.

To do this, turn the drum of the device by the leash in any direction until it stops, and then in the opposite direction by 3.75 turns, while the drum device leash should take the upper position.
