Multifunction Switch Located on Steering Column — Replacement (Chevrolet Trailblazer 1)

Warning: The vehicles described in this manual are equipped with a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS), also known as an air bag system. Before carrying out work in the area where the elements of this system are located, it is necessary to disconnect its power supply, since accidental deployment of the airbags can result in serious injury (see subsection 28).


1. The multi-function switch is located on the left side of the steering column. This switch controls the turn signal circuits, headlight dimmer, and windshield wiper/washer. Also, if the vehicle is equipped accordingly, the cruise control system is controlled from this switch.

2. Set the steering wheel of the folding steering column to the center position.

3. Remove the steering column cover covers (see chapter 11).

4. Follow the direction of the wires from the switch to the connectors and disconnect them (see illustration).

5. Remove the screws and detach the multifunction switch from the steering column (see illustration).

6. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
