Car radio and speakers — removal and installation (Chevrolet Trailblazer 1)

Warning: The vehicles described in this manual are equipped with a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS), also known as an air bag system. Before carrying out work in the area where the elements of this system are located, it is necessary to disconnect its power supply, since accidental deployment of the airbags can result in serious injury. (see subsection 28)


Car radio



1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

2. When performing the procedure on a Chevrolet vehicle, it is necessary to remove the lower center insulation of the instrument panel (see chapter 11).

3. If the procedure is performed on an Oldsmobile vehicle, it is necessary to remove the selector lever trim frame (see chapter 11).

4. On all models it is necessary to remove the additional instrument panel trim plate (see chapter 11).

5. Unscrew the mounting screws, pull the car radio out of the dashboard, disconnect the connectors and remove it from the car (see illustration).

6. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.



Speakers



7. To replace the speaker located in the door, you need to remove the trim panel. To replace the front tweeter located in the instrument panel, you must remove the upper instrument panel trim panel (see chapter 11).

8. Remove the speaker mounting screws (see illustration). Pull out the speaker, disconnect the connector and remove the speaker from the vehicle.
