This section of Chapter 2 describes the basic operations for major repairs of cylinder heads and internal engine components.

The information provided includes both advice on preparing for a major overhaul and purchasing spare parts, as well as detailed procedures for removing and installing internal engine parts and checking them.

The information contained in the following sections assumes that the engine has been removed from the vehicle. Information related to repairing the engine located on the vehicle, as well as removing and installing external parts during major repairs, can be found in parts 2.1 and 2.2 of this chapter and in section 7 this part.

This section contains only the technical data that is required when performing the inspection and repair operations described below. Additional information on technical specifications can be found in the parts 2.1 and 2.2.
