Rear muffler — removal and installation (Chevrolet Captiva 1)

Removal procedure

1. Remove the gaskets and nuts securing both flanges of the rear muffler pipe to the flange of the front muffler pipe.



2. Disconnect both rear mufflers as an assembly from the rubber mounts.

3. Remove both rear mufflers.

4. Check the rear muffler and pipe for holes, damage, loose seams, or other defects that could allow exhaust fumes to enter the passenger compartment.

Installation procedure

1. Secure both rear mufflers as an assembly to rubber mounts.



2. Install the gaskets and nuts on both flanges securing the rear muffler pipe to the front muffler pipe flange.



Tighten

Tighten the nuts securing the front muffler to the rear muffler to 40 Nm (30 ft·lbs).
