Location of the sensor on the engine (for clarity, shown on an engine removed from a car): 1 - intake manifold bracket; 2 - coolant pump supply pipe; 3 — purge valve of the adsorber; 4 — cylinder head; 5 - coolant temperature sensor; 6 - generator
Drain the coolant from the engine (see Replacing the coolant). Due to the fact that the sensor is located in a hard-to-reach place, we show the operations for its dismantling with the intake manifold removed.
With the ignition off, press the locking device of the engine control system wiring harness connector…

…and disconnect the wiring harness connector from the sensor.

Using a high 19 mm socket, unscrew the sensor from the cylinder head.

The connection between the sensor and the cylinder head is sealed with a soft metal washer.
If the washer is damaged (severe wear, deformation) we replace it with a new one.
Install the coolant temperature sensor in the reverse order. Tighten the temperature sensor to the specified torque. Fill the engine with coolant.
