Heating system
The system consists of a radiator heater fan located in the heater housing, hoses connecting the heater radiator and the engine cooling system, and a control unit for the heating and air conditioning systems located on the instrument panel. Hot coolant circulates through the heater core. When the heater is turned on, the damper opens. The fan switch turns on an electric motor, which forces air through the radiator, heating it. Some models of vehicles are equipped with an auxiliary heating unit, which is designed to heat the rear part of the passenger compartment. This unit is located behind the panel, to the left behind the driver's seat.
Air conditioning system
The air conditioning system consists of a radiator (condenser), installed in front of the engine cooling system radiator, an evaporator installed next to the heater core, a compressor installed on the engine, a filter dryer that has a pressure relief valve, and hoses and pipes connecting all of the above parts. Some models of cars are equipped with an air conditioning system for the rear of the cabin with its own control panel and fan.
The fan forces warmer air from the cabin through the evaporator, transferring heat from the air to the refrigerant. The liquid refrigerant boils and leaves the evaporator as vapor, taking away heat.
