Heating system
The system consists of a radiator heater fan located in the heater housing, hoses connecting the heater radiator and the engine cooling system, as well as a control unit for heating and air conditioning systems located on the instrument panel. Hot coolant circulates through the heater core. When the heater is on, the damper opens. The fan switch turns on an electric motor that forces air through the radiator, heating it up. Some vehicles are equipped with an auxiliary heater unit which is designed to heat the rear of the passenger compartment. This unit is located behind the panel, on the left behind the driver's seat.
Air conditioning system
The air conditioning system consists of a radiator (condenser), installed in front of the radiator of the engine cooling system, an evaporator installed next to the heater radiator, a compressor installed on the engine, a filter drier that has a pressure relief valve, and hoses and pipes connecting all of the above parts. Cars of some modifications are equipped with an air conditioning system for the rear of the cabin with its own control panel and fan.
The fan forces the warmer air from the passenger compartment through the evaporator, transferring heat from the air to the refrigerant. The liquid refrigerant boils and leaves the evaporator in the form of vapor, taking away heat.
