3.3a. Cut the clamps securing the protective covers, use wire cutters or a metal chisel and a hammer | 3.3b. Remove cover from hinge |
3.3c. Slide the protective cover to the center of the axle shaft | 3.3g. Spread the circlip of the spider and move it to the center of the shaft |
3.3d. Slide the cross back to expose the front retaining ring and remove it | 3.3f. Remove the cross from the axle shaft, leaving the rollers in place (it is recommended to use cloth or tape to wrap the spider bearing assembly to secure them) |
3.3g. Remove the retaining ring and protective cover from the axle shaft | 3.3z. Remove old grease from cover and cross assembly, then remove rollers one at a time |
3.3i. Carefully disassemble each section of the spider assembly, clean the needle bearings with solvent, and inspect the rollers, spider, rollers, and casing for scratches, gouges, and other signs of abnormal wear | 3.3k. Apply a coat of CVJ grease to the surface of the inner roller to hold the needle bearings in place and slide the roller onto them |
3.3l. To avoid damage to the protective cover, wrap the splines of the axle shaft with tape, then put the protective cover on the axle shaft | 3.3m. Slide the circlip circlip onto the axle shaft, bypassing the groove in which it settles |
3.3n. Install the roller so that the notch in the bore (forged hole) was turned to the end of the axle shaft | 3.3o. Using a screwdriver, put on the outer circlip, then slide the cross over it and insert the circlip into its groove |
3.3p. Put half of the grease prepared for the new protective boot into the casing, and place the rest in the protective cover | 3.3r. After putting on, but not tightening the clamping collars, install the casing |
3.3s. Set the protective cover on the casing and in the grooves of the axle shaft seal. You can use a small screwdriver to do this job (take care not to warp or pull out the protective cover) | 3.3t. Before tightening the clamps, adjust the size of the hinges in the compressed state "A" (from the small end of the protective boot to the groove on the housing) by the size specified in the section "Specifications and Specifications" at the beginning of this chapter |
3.3y. Special tongs (they are available at auto parts stores) fasten the clamps of the protective covers
