Luggage compartment lock (Chevrolet Orlando 1)

To extend the service life and to avoid jamming of the luggage compartment lock, it is necessary to periodically lubricate its mechanical part. Lubrication of the lock is described in the section "Lubrication of body locks and hinges". In case of mechanical or electrical failure, the lock must be replaced.

Replacement of the tailgate lock

1. We prepare the car for maintenance and repair.

2. Remove the trunk door trim.

3. Using a TORX T40 key, unscrew the two bolts securing the lock.



4. Pull the lock out through the hole in the trunk door and, pressing the latch, disconnect the wiring harness connector from the lock.

5. Remove the lock.

6. Install the parts in reverse order.

Adjusting the lock

If the tailgate does not close properly, the position of the tailgate lock latch must be adjusted. To do this:

1. We prepare the car for maintenance and repair.

2. Overcoming the resistance of the holders, remove the rear trim panel of the luggage compartment.



3. Using a 10 mm wrench, loosen the two bolts and, by moving the lock left and right and back and forth, achieve an easy and tight closing of the lid.



4. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 22 Nm.
