The interior rearview mirror has two fixed positions; "day" and "night". The interior rearview mirror should be adjusted so that the lower edge of the rear window is visible at the bottom of the mirror.
If there is a risk of being blinded by the headlights of a car coming from behind, you should move the mirror to the "night" position, for which you need to move the lever at the bottom of the mirror towards you.
Warning. In the "night" position, the viewing sector in the mirror is reduced.
The position of the outside mirrors is adjusted using the electric rear-view mirror control unit located on the driver's door trim. To adjust the mirrors, move the switch to the position corresponding to the right or left mirror. Next, we adjust the mirror in the horizontal and vertical directions and return the switch to the middle position.
When the side mirrors are adjusted correctly, the edge of the car's side should be visible in them.
Depending on the configuration, the car may be equipped with an electric drive for folding mirrors. In this case, to fold the outside rear-view mirrors, you must press the switch located on the electric mirror control unit.
On vehicles not equipped with electric folding mirrors, the mirror bracket has a rotating design and can be folded manually if necessary.
Warning. Do not attempt to manually fold mirrors with electric folding drive, this will lead to their breakage.
The exterior mirrors have a heating function for quick defrosting and defogging. The heated mirrors are switched on only when the engine is running, together with the heated rear window.
Diagnostics of faults in electric heating and electric drive of mirrors
After 5-10 minutes of turning on the rear window heating, place your hand on the surface of the mirror element. If the heating is working properly, you will feel warm. Otherwise, the heating does not work and it is necessary to find out the cause of the malfunction.
1. We prepare the car for maintenance and repair.
2. Check the Ef60 circuit fuse (7.5 A) in the fuse and relay box located in the engine compartment. We replace the blown fuse.
3. Turn on the electric mirror heating and check its operation. If the fuse blows again, there is a short circuit in the electrical wiring, which must be eliminated according to the diagram described in the chapter "Electrical equipment".
If the electrical circuit is working properly and there is voltage, but the electric heating still does not work, most likely the heating element (mirror) is faulty and needs to be replaced.
4. Move the mirror adjustment switch to the position corresponding to the right or left mirror and adjust them in the horizontal and vertical directions. If you cannot adjust the mirror in at least one direction, you need to find out the cause of the malfunction.
If the adjustment does not work on both mirrors, check the Ef55 circuit fuse (7.5 A) in the fuse and relay box located in the engine compartment. We replace the blown fuse.
5. Check the operation of the electric drive; if the fuse burns out again, then there is a short circuit in the electrical wiring, which must be eliminated according to the diagram described in the chapter "Electrical equipment".
If the electrical circuit is working properly and voltage is supplied, but the electric drive does not work in at least one of the positions, most likely the electric mirror drive control unit is faulty and needs to be replaced.
Replacing the mirror assembly
The need to perform work must be determined during the inspection of the technical condition of the body during daily maintenance.
1. We prepare the car for maintenance and repair.
2. Carefully pry up the decorative mirror cover and, overcoming the resistance of the plastic holders, detach it from the mirror bracket.
3. Using a 10 mm socket wrench, unscrew the three mirror mounting bolts.
4. Disconnect the mirror from the door, move it slightly to the side and disconnect the wiring harness connector.
5. Install the mirror in reverse order.
