6. To turn on the alarm, press button C. The siren will turn on and the external lights will flash for 30 seconds. To turn off the siren without waiting for it to turn off automatically, press the button again or start the engine.

Range of the remote control

7. The range of the remote control should be about 9 meters. From time to time, you may notice that this range decreases. This is a normal phenomenon.

8. If the remote control does not work, or if you have to get closer to the car than usual for it to work:

a) You may be too far from the car. Check the distance you are standing at. The range of the remote control decreases when it rains or snows.

b) Check how well you have chosen the place where you are standing. The signal may be blocked by other vehicles or objects. Take a few steps to the right or left.

c) The battery in your remote control may need to be replaced. See battery replacement instructions.

9. If none of these measures help, contact your dealer for vehicle service.

Replacing the battery

10. If the message KEYFOB X BATTERY LOW appears on the Driver Information Center display (Remote control battery is low X), the battery should be replaced.

11. When replacing the battery, be careful not to touch exposed electrical components. Static electricity from your body transferred to these elements can damage the remote control.

To replace the battery:

12. Using a thin, non-metallic object, separate the upper part of the transmitter housing from the lower part (see illustrations).

14. Replace the battery. Use a CR2032 battery.

15. Fasten the top and bottom parts of the remote control housing together.

16. Check the operation of the remote control.

Setting up remote controls

17. Setting up remote controls for your vehicle may be necessary if the remote control is lost or replaced. Even if you are only replacing one remote, you will have to set up all of your existing remotes at the same time. Up to four remote controls can be configured for one vehicle. Contact your dealer to purchase a new remote control and set up the remotes.
