Warning! After deployment, a powdery residue may remain on the surface of the airbag. This residue consists mainly of cornstarch (which serves as a lubricant for the inflatable cushion) and by-products of the chemical reaction. Sodium hydroxide, after activation, quickly reacts with atmospheric moisture and turns into sodium carbonate and sodium bicarbonate (the so-called baking soda). Therefore, the presence of sodium hydroxide after airbag deployment is unlikely.
Caution: Always wear gloves and safety glasses during disposal.
Caution! The metal surfaces of the air bag module are hot after deployment. To avoid injury or fire, do not place the deployed air bag module near flammable objects and allow it to cool for 30 minutes before taking any further action.

Before disposing of an airbag or seat belt pretensioner, deploy it.
This also applies to the situation where the entire vehicle is destined for scrap. If the vehicle is still under warranty, contact your Daewoo Regional Service Manager for permission or special instructions before deploying the airbag module or seat belt pretensioner. Dispose of the deployed airbag module or seat belt pretensioner in the same manner as any other scrap vehicle, with the following additional steps:
1. Place the deployed airbag or seat belt tensioner in a strong plastic bag.
2. Seal the bag securely.
3. After handling a deployed airbag, wash your hands and rinse them with water.
