Signs of malfunction - doors
Visual inspection / physical control
Some symptom diagnostic procedures require a thorough visual inspection/physical check. This step is extremely important - it can lead to the solution of the problem without further checks and save valuable time. These checks include the following:
- Inspect easily accessible or visible wiring harness components and connectors for obvious signs of damage or conditions that could cause this symptom.
Intermittent faults
Important: Check that the electrical components are installed correctly when an intermittent fault occurs. Inspect aftermarket anti-theft devices, lights, and mobile phones. Ensure that no aftermarket equipment is connected to Class 2 circuits. If the cause of the intermittent fault cannot be determined, the mobile phone signal may be the cause. Faulty electrical connections or wiring may also cause intermittent faults.
Important: When a problem occurs, a fault code may or may not be issued. Do not use the fault finding tables to diagnose intermittent faults. To successfully troubleshoot a fault, the fault must be confirmed.
Most intermittent faults are caused by faulty connections and wiring. Perform a thorough inspection and physical check for the following conditions.
- Unreliable connection of the mating parts of the connectors or loose insertion of the terminal into the connector body.
- Deformed or damaged terminals.
- Straighten or replace the connector terminals in the suspected fault circuit to ensure good contact.
- To check the reliability of the wire connection to the terminal, it is necessary to remove the terminal from the connector housing.
