Folding the rear seat back (Chevrolet Captiva 1)

Warning: Do not stack luggage or other cargo higher than the front seat level. Do not allow passengers to sit on folded seatbacks while the vehicle is moving.


The vehicle has special areas for carrying luggage and passengers. Unsecured luggage or passengers sitting with the seatbacks folded down could be thrown from their seats or from the vehicle in the event of a sudden stop or collision. This could result in serious injury or death.


Caution: Folding the rear seat with the seat belts fastened may cause damage to the seat or seat belts. Always unfasten the seat belts and return them to their normal, original position before folding the rear seat.

To fold the rear seatbacks, follow these steps:

1. Make sure all three seat belts are loose and the front seatbacks are not reclined.

2. Insert the headrests until they stop.

3. Lift the lever located on top of the seat back and release the seat back.

4. Fold the rear seatback forward and down.



To return the rear seat back to its original position:

1. Hook the seat belts into the holder to avoid them getting caught.

2. Raise the rear seat back and return it to its original position.

3. Remove the seat belts from the holder.

4. Snap the backrest into place by pressing down on the top of the backrest.

5. Pull the backrest forward to check that it is securely fastened.

Warning: Before driving with rear seat passengers, make sure the rear seatbacks are fully reclined and locked into place.


Do not pull the levers on the top of the seat back while the vehicle is moving. Pulling these release levers while the vehicle is moving may cause injury.
