Removal and installation the starter (Chevrolet Captiva 1)

Removal procedure



1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

2. Remove the front exhaust pipe. See section 1G3, Engine Exhaust System - HFV6 3.2L.

3. Remove the PUP catalytic converter, bank 2. See section 1G3, Engine Exhaust System - HFV6 3.2L.

4. Unscrew the nut securing the lead wire to the battery from the starter solenoid valve.

5. Disconnect the starter lead wire connector from the main engine wiring harness.

5. Disconnect the starter lead wire connector from the main engine wiring harness.


6. Loosen the starter mounting bolts.

7. Remove the starter assembly.

8. If necessary, loosen the nut securing the starter solenoid valve lead wire to the main engine wiring harness.

Installation procedure



1. If necessary, tighten the nut securing the starter solenoid lead wire to the main engine wiring harness.

Tighten

Tighten the nut securing the starter solenoid lead wire to the main engine wiring harness to 10 N·m (89 lbs.in).

2. Install the starter assembly.

Tighten

Tighten the starter assembly mounting bolts to 45 N·m (33 ft·lbs).

Tighten the starter assembly mounting bolts to 45 N·m (33  ft·lbs).


3. Install the nut securing the starter solenoid valve lead wire to the battery onto the starter solenoid valve.

Tighten

Tighten the nut securing the starter solenoid valve lead wire to the battery to 15 N·m (11 ft·lbs).

4. Connect the main engine wiring harness lead wire connector.

5. Install the PUP catalytic converter, bank 2, and front exhaust pipe. See section 1G3, Engine Exhaust System - HFV6 3.2L.

6. Connect the negative battery cable.
