Removal and installation the brake pedal (Chevrolet Cruze J300)

The brake pedal is removed to replace its axle or the pedal itself if it breaks or has increased play, to lubricate it if it squeaks or jams, and to replace the return spring if it is damaged.

Note: The throttle control pedal is mounted on the same bracket as the brake pedal.


You will need: a 17 mm socket head and a flat-blade screwdriver.

1. In the passenger compartment, under the instrument panel, disconnect the vacuum booster push rod from the pedal.

2. Pull back the lock.

6. Pry it up with a screwdriver.

8. Remove the axle from the pedal hole and bracket, remove the pedal.

9. Inspect the brake pedal. If any defects are found, replace the pedal with a new one.

10. Install the brake pedal and all removed parts in the reverse order of removal. When installing, make sure that the booster rod is securely fixed in the pedal stop.
