- remove the steering shaft bracket as described in the section "Steering";
- disconnect the vacuum booster pushrod from the brake pedal by removing the retaining clip 9 (figure 6-8) and taking out finger 8;

- disconnect the wires from the brake light switch;
- unscrew the nuts securing the pedal bracket to the front body panel, vacuum booster and instrument panel, remove the bracket together with the clutch and brake pedals.
Install in the reverse order. Make sure that the pusher is correctly installed in the socket on the clutch master cylinder piston.
Disassembly and assembly. To disassemble, remove the locking bracket 6 from the pin 11, take out the pin 11 and remove the pedal 4 together with the bushings 2 and 5 and the spring 3.
Assemble in the reverse order. When assembling, lubricate pins 8 and 11, pedal bushings, spring ends, and the connection points of the vacuum booster pushrod with the pin with Litol-24 grease.
Checking and repairing. If the pedal moves with difficulty, inspect the working surfaces of the pedal, bushings and pin 11.
If you find shallow scratches or traces of oxidation on the surfaces of metal parts, wipe them with sandpaper; replace worn outer plastic pedal bushings with new ones.
Check the elasticity of spring 3. If it is weakened, replace it.
