Adjusting the parking brake (Chevrolet Niva 1)

            0

If the parking brake does not hold the vehicle on a slope of up to 24% when the lever is moved to 7-14 notches of the sector, adjust it in the following order:
  • loosen locknut 5 (figure 6-4) and, by turning the adjusting nut 6, tighten the cable 1;
  • check the full travel of the parking brake lever, which should be 7-9 teeth per sector, then tighten lock nut 5.

After applying the brakes several times, make sure that the lever travel has not changed and that the wheels rotate freely without dragging when the parking brake lever is fully released.

Note: If the cables are replaced with new ones, it is necessary to brake two or three times, applying a force of approximately 392 N (40 kgf) to the parking brake drive lever. This will stretch the cables.
